ST GEORGE’S DISTILLERY
England’s first whisky distillery. Sited on the banks of the river Thet. You can get guided tours, see the distinctive copper stills, learn how whisky is produced with Norfolk barley and Breckland water and taste the new spirits and liquers. The first lot of whisky will be ready December 2009. About 20 miles away.
IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM – DUXFORD
Duxford is Europe’s premier aviation museum – as well as having one of the finest collections of tanks, military vehicles and naval exhibits in the country.
This famous heritage site began as an airfield in the First World War and also played a vital role in the Second World War, firstly as an RAF fighter station and later as an American fighter base. The museum is just down the A11, about 15 miles away.
